Blood Song by Anthony Ryan
3.0

I'm a bit torn by it. On one hand I liked it but on the other hand I feel like the certain something is missing for me (even though, after Vaelin grew up and especially when he learns about the Blood Song the certain something has been there for me and in the end the book really captivated me... *hands*).

I like Vaeling and his story. I like that we see him grow up and how he goes from being a believer (in loyalty, the Faith, the King, ...) to a man that questions himself and others. I like the man he became (even if he didn't like himself from time to time) and how he influenced the people around him.

The other characters are interesting too and sometimes I was really sad when they left the story for whatever reasons.

The story itself drags a bit in Vaelin's youth but as soon as he grows up and, as I mentioned above, discovers the Blood Song and what it means, it picks up and got good.
