Strange Weather in Tokyo by Hiromi Kawakami

5.0

Wow. I've been handing out five stars like candy this month, but Strange Weather in Tokyo is exceptional and can take my five stars. Hiromi Kawakami captures life's loneliness and life's love so perfectly.

I enjoyed this one from beginning to end even. Our characters were wonderful to follow around. I laughed. I cried. I salivated over the local cuisine, and I'm confident I'll try saké for the first time this weekend. I was charmed by the story of two people living in reality and was mesmerized by a dream-like atmosphere. The prose was stunning. Beautifully told.
