The more gamy Sam Fisher book, it works in some ways but sacrifices a lot of that made the first books special to do so.

This is a lot closer to how Sam is in the games, more gadgets, especially less than lethal options, and more sneaking. Sam also does not kill as much, but the first person narrative is gone, which is a shame really.

These books have a Hobbit of going places I would find fascinating to go, yet would be terrified to be in. In this case Chernobyl... Yeah, as a kid reading this was one of the first times I heard about that place, and what happened there. This book will give you quite an accurate picture, and it is not pretty.

I enjoyed this book, the narrative was not as personal, the villain not as Bond like. I liked the believable gadgets, although they were very conveniently introduced. The insight into sam is lost which is unfortunate. On the whole I prefer the previous two books, but this was still an entertaining read.
