A disappointment, not that I had huge hopes for this book anyway but I really didn't expect it to be so shallow. To me the whole book can be summarized as a mix and match of "grr I hate technology", "society is collapsing and everyone is stupid", "my wife this, my wife that" and other typical boomer quotes you've heard a hundred times. Its known to a lot of people that the original draft for the book was written in just 9 days and it really does show, it almost feels like a 90 page story stretched to 180 because of literary jerk-off's...
Now Lets get to the message, a lot of people (critics and casual readers) have stated that the book is about how censorship is a bad thing and I would agree of course, HOWEVER, Ray Bradbury has stated numerous times in interviews that people misinterpret the books meaning, stating that its just a book about how he fears technology and that books will be forgotten one day. Truly silly of him to not just go with the flow and accept the better unintentional message the book can have. Not only was his intended message one dimensional, the execution is pretentious and as I stated above shallow as fuck. The dystopian world built around the story isn't even interesting or that "prophetic" as most pretentious people say.
Overall, a incredibly overrated book that a lot of people say they like just because its "a classic" or just because they're full of themselves.
