Absolutely gut-wrenching. Very necessary commentary, accompanied by beautiful prose. The story is written from Vanessa’s perspective, which makes the abuse she endured all the more raw. I can’t say that I’d recommend this book to anyone else, for the sheer fact that it takes a lead stomach to read it, but I do not regret finishing it. Check trigger warnings as there are many.
