This was really hard to rate. The plot and the writing were quite interesting and could have made 4 stars. HOWEVER, the frequent science lectures that started most chapters were incredibly irritating and unnecessary. It felt like a constant interruption to the story line, and the random jump to address the reader came across as condecending. Also while I liked the idea of mixing up the content by including alternative formats, the information (at least in the first half of the book) was literally the same as the text just repeated in another format.
It did improve in the second half... Perhaps it might be better after a re-read now I know what I can skim over.
