A Fortunate Age by Joanna Rakoff
2.0

This book is kind of an homage to The Group, by Mary McCarthy. Like McCarthy's book, this one follows a group of college friends as they navigate post college life in New York, in this case, during the late '90s and into the early 2000s. It was ok, but overall I found it kind of cold and like I was kept at arm's length from the characters. In addition, I thought I should have a lot in common with the characters, as they are just a few years older than me and also graduated from a small liberal arts college, but I found a lot of their experiences completely alien. By the end, I did want to know what happened to everyone, and I admire Rakoff's writing, but the book just never fully pulled me in.
