The switch from heroic to epic fantasy was not what I was expecting and I think the series could’ve been close to perfect as a heroic fantasy, but the writing is still easy to read with mostly entertaining characters. Main things holding this one back was the plot of the first half was far too political and the rather abrupt ending which was pretty unsatisfying. Still some really fun scenes and banter with characters that are developing in interesting ways.
