Reading this book third really gave valuable insight into the person Celaena became and how/why she is the way she is. My heart broke for Celaena and everything that seems to get ripped from her. I’m excited to see some of these characters from the mini novellas get entered the main storyline.
I personally don’t think it matters when this book is read.

- Read it first to have background information before reading the rest of the ToG series.
- Read anytime time before Queen of Shadows for emotional, heartstring pulling story that adds depth to Celaena’s character.
