I liked this book so much better than the first in the series, Flawless! While I did like Flawless and Summer and Rhett’s story, I think that fact that Heartless felt more raw and vulnerable made me fall in love with the characters more. I wish it was paced a little slower because the entire book takes place in one summer. I feel like there wasn’t a lot of character development and the storyline was decently predictable but I loved that about it anyway.
Cade is not afraid to say how he feels and I appreciate that in a MMC and Willa is strong-willed, blunt, and funny so I appreciate her comebacks to his brood as well.
If you’re not into descriptive spice, this is not the book for you. I’m not a huge fan of it, but after reading the first book I knew what I was in for reading the rest of the series. It’s kinda off putting to me for 5-6 chapters to be solely intimacy with little plot development after the characters break the tension. Either that or it feels like we skip 12 chapters because they’re suddenly hitting huge life milestones every chapter after the intimate ones.
Overall, I enjoyed reading this! I read most of it in a day when I finally got hooked after about Chapter 8.
