A vampire hunter goes undercover at a mysterious university - and finds herself in love with her roommate, an alluring vampire. In the mists of the Scottish Highlands there is a university where vampires study alongside humans. Rebecca Charity is a vampire hunter, searching for the mysterious Book of Blood and Roses. This book is a lost compendium of ways to kill vampires, and if she finds it, she’ll be one step closer to avenging her parents. Who were slain by those creatures of the night.

When Rebecca arrives, she finds an uncomfortable pull drawing her to Aliz Astra, scion of one of the most powerful vampire families. The maddeningly gorgeous Aliz is everything that Rebecca has always hated, but also everything she’s ever wanted. So many things change when Aliz rescues her from a vampire attack, and now she and Rebecca must work together to solve the mystery of The Book of Blood and Roses.

Who could turn down a book about a lesbian vampire falling for a vampire hunter? This is the perfect blend of ridiculous circumstances and collage romance. I loved that Aliz is this mysterious hot vampire, apex predator around the ancient college campus. I loved Rebecca’s drive and determination to get what she wants. It wasn’t much of a surprise to me that forced proximity would end up with the two entangled. I had been rooting for Julia, honestly, but acknowledge that it would have changed the whole story. More’s the pity.

The writing is straightforward and well done. The character development was good. The story held just enough twists to keep me guessing (a hard thing to achieve). And the vampire's history and lore, and parts of the classes we saw were well done. Would highly recommend this to anyone who loves vampires that don’t sparkle, loves a good magickal college, and lesbian representation.
