Ten Steps to Nanette: A Memoir Situation
by Hannah Gadsby
this was a memoir that once i started, i was immediately drawn in; i was enraptured. hannah gadsby's writing is phenomenal and visceral and gets to all your tender parts--something i already knew from watching both nanette and douglas--and that's just amplified here. her voice is so strong and so present all throughout this memoir. there's a real sense of place when reading about her childhood in tasmania and then her time spent on the mainland and on the festival circuits. her words are wise and authentic, heartbreakingly sad at times, but mostly really hopeful. i really enjoyed reading this!
