This was such a fantastic collection of short stories that inhabited the Black experience in a very 1984 like way. The author really showcases the horrors Black Americans face in today’s society (I.e. medical gaslighting, police brutality, and Othering) by placing his stories within dystopian horror settings. The last story, which the collection is named after, is the one that really got me. Such fantastic writing overall.
