degraham 's review for:
The Lost Metal
by Brandon Sanderson
A frenetic and roaring finale to ERA 2 of the Mistborn Saga. Sanderson shows he can make tightly written, action-packed, and meaningful stories even if he keeps the word count to a modest level. This novel, along with its brethren, in Era 2 of Mistborn, forges its own place in the grand scheme of the Cosmere. Wax and Wayne are compelling characters accompanied by memorable companions along the way in Maresi Combs, Ranette, Melaan, and bringing back some old favorites.
The finale of this thrill-ride will leave you wanting more, but with a real sense of completion. The Lost Metal for me, wraps up Era 2 in a better and more hopeful place than most Sanderson sagas -- that is a good thing! Era 2 is a breath of fresh air in contrast to the bleakness surrounding so many other stories in Sanderson's grand universe, but its journey is no less meaningful or heartfelt.
