Excellent meditation on the importance of acts of resistance - no matter the size - when living under a totalitarian regime which proclaims to be otherwise. Tabucchi creates a complete world for Pereira to inhabit, humanising him in all his flaws and emphasising the human need for thinking and talking about oppression as a precursor to action. I recommend this novella and I will read it again.
