This is the first book in the Totally Pucked series. There is a "prequel" book to this one called "The Newspaper Nanny" but it is not necessary to read these books.
This book follows Reed Davidson as he goes from being responsible playboy of the Avalanches to becoming a guardian to his nephew, Evan, and falling for his sister's best friend. I absolutely loved Reed. He starts out as a player and protective brother, but when he's all of sudden thrown into a difficult situation, he adapts. His character growth in this book was incredible. It was nice to read about a guy asking for help when he needed it when it came to his nephew, instead of doing everything on his own.
Holland is really easy to relate to and love. Her love for her father and her best friend, Emery, is so beautiful, even though her heart wants what it wants. She has a big heart and it really shows when she meets Evan, you can see just how much love is in her soul and how much she's willing to give for that little boy.
Holland has always had a thing for Reed. He is the older brother of her best friend, so she been good about never letting him know. But when she agrees to go with him on the road during his hockey games, that's when things start to change. Reed begins to see Holland in a different way and it becomes harder for them to resist each other and keep their distance.
Maren Moore writes such great steam. Reed and Holland deliver so many feels in this book and I absolutely devoured it in one sitting, because that’s just how fun, flirty and sexy Maren Moore’s stories are.
Def recommend if you like hockey romance, single-dad, friends to lovers, best friend's brother type of tropes.
Overall: 4.75
Spice: 3.5
