Novik does an amazing job raising the stakes for this book. I love how costly it is to cast a spell is in this world. I also enjoyed El and Orion’s black cat/golden retriever energy.

Think of a more deadly Hogwarts with Mean Girl politics and some Lemony Snicket vibes.
