I wanted to like this book, because I thought that I would. I thought it would be a cute chick-flicky book, maybe with some nice smut. And I guess it was those things, but the writing and the characters just did not work for me.
The writing was pretty bad. It just seemed a little immature, not very polished, and there were a little-too-many spelling errors. The dialogue didn’t flow very well to me. And it was so cheesy. The gushy love stuff was too much for me.
The characters were unrealistic, and they fell in love so easily. They went on like one date and confessed their love to each other. They went on vacation after a couple weeks together. And then they got engaged in less than two months, married in four. It was unrealistically fast; their acting like they couldn’t live without each other was annoying. The way they fell in love almost instantly just did not work for me, even if it seemed all right at first. And aside from them, the way that his sister acted toward the heroine was exaggeratedly annoying, and then how fast she changed her attitude didn’t work either.
Then there were some stereotypical moments thrown in, like the pregnancy. But then there was the way that the heroine remembered it was her parents death anniversary halfway through the day (like she forgot it was the anniversary until right then? Really?), forgot to tell him about a guy she worked with, went the cemetery and sobbed for the rest of the day so he had to take care of her. That entire scene just seemed contrived, added at the last second to add emotion. It was dumb and unbelievable.
Pretty much the entire book just seemed exaggerated, immature, and unrealistic. It started out fine, but very quickly got annoying, and near the end, I had a hard time finishing the book.
