Ghost Note: A Rock Star Romance by Vicki James

5.0

A consuming and passionate romance that had me sobbing, smiling, and giddy. Vicki James has done it again.

❝He was ready to pounce, and I was ready to fall backwards. As much as that war within me raged on, only one side was ever going to win tonight.
Sometimes you just had too charge into the carnage and pray for your survival.❞

→ I’m a freaking mess right now after reading Ghost Note because of the way VJ is able to write a story that has me holding my throat—fearful to take breath in case I’ll miss something from this magical story.

─Danny followed his heart and it took him to the music, didn't mean he wasn't caught up in a past he couldn't let go of.

❝There's no adrenaline in safety. I wanted the scary stuff. I wanted to do things that would make my heart feel like it was about to fucking fly out my chest with nerves.❞

─Daisy has lived the last five years of her life haunted by the man that went after his dreams, yet left her behind.

❝The guitar was his addiction, yes, but he had always been mine. I was a young woman desperately in love, being crushed by a man I never thought would do this to me.❞

→ Gut wrenching. I found myself crying quite often bc VJ can write so well. I wish more people read her stories. She didn't just write about romance, but also about passion.
The chemistry these two had?? I'd compare it to Tess & Presley from Cherry Beats.

VJ knows her fucking music. She writes her musicians so clearly that you get their passion for the music.
⤷The playlist??? Unparalleled.

→ While painful, the story makes sense. I can't explain too much without spoiling it, but VJ really made this a realistic second chance romance. It wasn't easy and concise. Daisy and Danny really had to work things out and understand who they were.
⤷ The whole reason we like this trope is bc it's FULL of angst, but it doesn't mean we have to like it. However, I lived for it. The story is real and raw.

→ This was epic. Two people who loved each other deeply, yet lost one another along the way. It's almost bittersweet bc it seems like it was necessary. Daisy needed to grow into herself and Danny needed to explore the world.
