I thought this book was pretty solid. I'm not sure how it came to me. I was a little leery of a female protagonist written by a man, but March Middleton is fine and holds her own. I did find Sidney Grice a little trying. He's a little too quirky and mean and weird. Like his quirkiness is more importance than anything else, including the plot. I definitely called the culprit at the beginning of the book. Too suspicious. I wanted to read the rest of this serious on audiobook, but it seems like only the next one has been recorded. So we'll see if I come back to this. I do want to know what trauma that March is carrying, even if it seems to be kind of jammed into the story. Also, it seems like she has a little romantic interest with women, but it wasn't really explored?
Graphic: Death, Toxic relationship, Murder
Moderate: Bullying, Confinement, Blood, Classism
Minor: Domestic abuse, Gore, Infidelity, Grief, Death of parent, Pregnancy, Alcohol, War
