Yes, No, Maybe So is a fantastic and informative YA novel. I went into it knowing the plot was driven by high school characters, and was thrown off to find the main “conflict” is surrounding a local campaign election. 17 year olds Mya and Jamie team up to help spread the word on the democratic candidate in a majority red state. I felt a disconnect while reading, simply because the characters were so passionate and not even able to vote! Perhaps that was part of the point the story was making. Either way, the romance was sweet and the characters were rich with detail! I felt like I actually knew them!! And I learned a lot about both Muslim and Jewish culture throughout the story.
