The Immortal Highlander by Karen Marie Moning
5.0

More like 4.5* I was a little unsure about this book before starting it. Adam has not always been my favorite character; he's fickle and usually only looking for his own amusements. However, his sacrifices in Dageus' book did a lot to start changing my opinion of him and I was not disappointed. His curiosity about humans, his desire to understand them was so pure. And I adored Gabby; her drive to succeed coupled with her unexpected ability/desire to blame unfortunate events on inanimate objects, especially iced coffee, were charming. I loved them together; the made each other better. Adam's irritation and desire to regain his immortality were quickly replaced with his need to protect his Queen, and then get back his immortality. However, once restored he was willing to give it all up for Gabby. And when they finally discovered he had a soul and immediately performed the binding ritual I almost cried. I loved that he tried to right his previous wrongs BEFORE asking for his own humanity. It was beautiful.
