A Voice Like Velvet by Donald Henderson, Martin Edwards

4.0

Not quite on a par with Mr Bowling Buys a Newspaper but still very good indeed.
Henderson's writing has a very modern quality I've not come across in what are ostensibly crime novels.
A Voice Like Velvet seemed to lose its way a little after a very strong beginning and the character of Jonas Wintle never quite paid off as I was hoping and faded from view.
As an added bonus there was a very short story at the end of this addition, The Alarm Bell which was as dark and at the same time jaunty as I've come to expect from Henderson.
