this book was just what i needed. i had been hitting a bit of a slump, reading books that were fine and enjoyable but didn’t pull at my heartstrings and ultimately forgettable but Mile High Heat is a funny, sweet, enjoyable read with characters i actually felt a connection with.
Shiloh is an omega leaving a 2 year relationship with a pack that didnt care about or value her. Forced to fly across the country alone (and commercial… the horror) , she enters a sudden heat mid-flight. I loved how the world building expanded into what the experience of a solo, unbonded, omega was like. I thought it was really interesting to see how random third party people discussed and treated omegas. Normally with omegaverse reads, you read about betas who are in the pack, are friends/family of the pack, or are employees for alpha/omega specific services. The resentment and jealousy causing them to lack empathy for omegas and the casual, cruel infantilism and objectification.
I did enjoy the overarching plot line with her previous pack, but there was just something with the pacing of it that I felt was not as smooth as Sarah Blue’s books normally are. However, i absolutely loved how communicative the pack was and how they discussed and resolved issues. It gave you the angst but with none of the chapters long miscommunication trope.
I’m so excited for this next series and look forward to the tightening and expansion of the Sarah Blue Extended Universe.
