I listened to The Unmarked Witch by Miranda Lyn on Spotify, narrated by Jacci Prior. The concept pulled me in right away—Raven Moonstone is a witch born without markings, underestimated her whole life because of it. But she’s powerful, and enters the games to claim a coven leader’s seat. The twist? The games are run by the Dark King, Bastian—a ruthless half-witch, half-shifter the witches fear and loathe. Against her will, Raven accepts the “gift” of death, planning to use it against him.
The story was intriguing and the world-building definitely sets up the next book well. That said, I found the pacing a bit slow and at times it was hard to follow through audio alone. Still, it ends on a cliffhanger and left me wanting to know what happens next—which always counts for something!
