Thank you for this audiobook Libro.fm! When Henry writes a new romance, it goes right to the top of my list. I’ve read every one prior to this but loved Julia Whelan’s narration on audio. After much deliberation, this is now my favorite of Henry’s catalogue.

Strait laced librarian Daphne’s engaged to Peter and about to have their large wedding when he rocks her world: he’s leaving her for his best friend Petra. Broken hearted, Daphne has to find a new place to live. She ends up living with Petra’s ex boyfriend Miles, a carefree stoner who’s also nursing a broken heart. The roommates are total opposites but end up faking a relationship to get back at their exes, discovering they have more in common than meets the eye.

The Midwest backdrop, deep family trauma and fake dating are all aligned with the other new top romance book “Just for the Summer” which I also loved! Fake dating/forced proximity/friends to lovers are all my least favorite tropes but Henry makes them all work. Miles is my favorite male MC from the Henry verse too! Gosh I just loved him so much. The famous Henry banter was here but felt less forced for me than past books. I previously loved “Book Lovers” and “Beach Read,” while hating “People We Meet on Vacation” and disliked “Happy Place.” I’m so thrilled I loved this one. It really had it all, complete with depth. Highly recommend!
