Roast Mortem by Cleo Coyle

4.0

Since I'm someone who loves a good mystery, coffee and goodies - not in any particular order! - I've found a special place in my continually updating TBR list whenever a new Coffeehouse mystery comes out. There is always a good mystery, a little romance and sex, and lots of coffee and good food. This was actually from 2010. (Not sure how I missed it.) Someone is setting coffee houses on fire. When one of the coffee houses turns out to be one owned by a friend of Clare's boss and former mother-in-law, aka Madame, she can't help but get involved. Of course there IS the added impetus that she and Madame happen to be visiting the coffee house when the fire starts. The reader learns a little more about coffee brewing and roasting as well as the culture of firefighters. It's an interesting blend - to steal a term from the coffee house industry. I really enjoyed this book. It's a fun read with some great recipes. Cleo Coyle also has a terrific website where you can find the creations she talks about in her books. (I'm made about her chocolate low fat cupcakes made with ricotta.)Visit her at http://www.coffeehousemystery.com/to find a few of your own favorites as well as to see her older books. She has a new one out this year.
