I enjoyed the first half of the book considerably more than the back half where it just seemed to drag. While the story focuses on one family, and while there is “character development” with their attitudes towards money, it’s all written in a very cliched way that doesn’t feel earned. Suddenly, they realize how money corrupts but it’s done in a way that falls flat. Feels like it had so much promise that falls short.
