advertised as a sequel to the mainline dune series but really just an advertisement for brian and kevin’s dune prequels. i don’t think i’d care about how dumb this book was if it wasn’t for the fact that it presents you with two equally depressing choices: either 1. this book is actually what frank herbert wanted to end the series with in which case he really lost the plot 2. the authors just lied and pretended that this is what frank herbert would’ve wanted in which case how dour is that? the only thing that prevents me from giving this a 1/5 is that some moments are so genuinely weird and disturbing it kind of becomes interesting again, before it dives back into its pointless repetition. bad bad bad do not read
