Transcendent Kingdom by Yaa Gyasi

Torn between 4 and 5 stars only because this book took some work and some time to get in to, but ultimately I loved it. The complexity of the interwoven timelines and plotlines is beautifully matched by the complexity of Giftys life and her struggles. I love how the author dove deep in to conflicting identities (scientist vs. believer, immigrant vs. american, etc) with so much grace. I was so drawn to the story and it filled me with so much empathy for others. Couldn't put it down once I got in to it
