The Death of the Necromancer by Martha Wells

4.0

(What is happening to my reviews? I'm going to open Goodreads sometime and find four almost identical reviews of this book. Fourth time's the charm:)
Another early Martha Wells, with a satisfying plot, interesting characters including some smart, strong women, and wonderfully-written action scenes (although I did find one too drawn out to entirely hold my attention). In 2024, the setting seems a little boringly eighteenth-century European standard, but I guess she's allowed to have one world like that.
