Story Of My Life by Lucy Score
5.0
I freaking love Lucy Score. If there was an author I would want to meet most, it is probably her. She just always nails it with all the things. (This review is already nailing it with the eloquence.) I was SO excited to get an ARC of this one even though I preordered a signed copy. ❤️
Romance author Hazel Hart has gone through hell and back with her divorce from her husband, a literary agent snob, at her publisher. So, she decides to scrap her life in New York and start over. She online bids for a home in a cozy little small town, just like one her heroines would live in, and is ready to get inspired to write again. Then comes the eagle named Goose, a fish to the face and busting up Story Lake's town sign. All a mild detour to her new home and new contractor, Campbell Bishop of Bishop Brothers Construction (conveniently made of three very 🔥 brothers). He has major leading, grumpy man energy and Hazel has a proposition for him to get her groove back. She's been out of the game for so long that anything has to help, but she gets SO much more than she bargained for in this small town.
How does she nail it every single time?! The quirky small town. The brooding grump MMC. The hilarious, whipsmart heroine. The antic ridden side characters we all end up loving. (And I actually remember who they are when I'm reading, which is usually no small feat.) This reminded me a lot of the Knockemout series and man, I WAS HERE FOR IT. All the stars. All the kudos.
