Which Brings Me to You by Steve Almond

If you're looking for a collection of well-written sexy stories, you'll probably enjoy this. I was finding it dissatisfying, and about halfway through I almost quit reading. Then I got suspicious that there might be a twist ending or a big reveal, so I finished it.

The male character is well-drawn and his stories are funny/poignant and wittily told. The female character is more of a cipher, which I didn't think was intentional so much as a problem of inconsistent tone. I was annoyed by how much her behaviour and voice in the coda failed to match her letters, and again, I don't think the writers were trying to make a point with that. I could be wrong, of course, but if so, the point wasn't clearly made. Mostly, I think I wished that she was as entertaining as her male counterpart. Her letters tended to drag, which means 50% of the book dragged.

In the end, this was slightly overlong fluff with some really beautiful writing and some very sexy sex.
