God Joan’s writing never fails to make me feel like she reached inside my brain and pulled out feelings and notions I had no idea how to put into words and then she went and put them into blatant, true, beautiful words. She’s like a glass of cool water on a hot day. Loved this collection of essays a little too much, i’m simply obsessed with how she can open up a door for me to walk through straight into the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s of her mind. Straight into her California. Her Hawaii. Her New York. She is just my girl for real!!!!!! Fave essays were On Keeping a Notebook and Goodbye to All That <3
