The Exchange by John Grisham
3.0
So…this is my first John Grisham book, and it might be my last. The hype of watching the film, The Firm, made me buy this book and quickly begin reading it. Unfortunately, John Grisham is too prosaic for my tastes in fiction. In my humble opinion, it really appears that he is so dull in his writing and lacks in vivid descriptions which would make a fiction story exciting. I appreciate the idea of his plot. He reintroduces Mitch McDeere as a middle-aged lawyer plagued with another high-profile case that oddly involves him travelling the world and visiting his former ominous locations.
I’m wondering if John Grisham just got tired of people asking about the sequel to The Firm after so many years? I mean I believe Grisham was speaking through Mitch at the conclusion when he said “I quit.”
All in all, the story is very lackluster…but I’m sure Grisham will work it into a film coming to a theatre or Netflix soon.
