I listened to the audiobook because it's narrated by Dan Pfeiffer, my favorite Pod host. This would have been great to read, but hearing him talk to me made it even better--it was like a super-extended Pod Save America. Part memoir; part really interesting analysis of the way communications changed during Obama's presidency and how we got to this Twitter-driven political world; all a warm remembrance of the Obama Years and the message that we can't give up hope, because we can and will defeat our current dystopian existence. Pfeiffer makes insightful observations on how social media has fundamentally changed political engagement, messages, and policies since 2008. He also gets to the core of what is most frightening about our current political landscape: that the current Republican Party exists solely as a racist reaction to undoing anything and everything Obama, even when it means flipping on bipartisanship and positions their party has held for decades. More than once, I teared up as Pfeiffer recalled some element of his time working for President Obama. The closing sentences of this book are perfect. And even better if you listen to the audiobook: when he quotes from Obama speeches, it cuts to audio of the man himself delivering the speech.
