Things You May Find Hidden in My Ear: Poems from Gaza by Mosab Abu Toha

dark emotional informative sad fast-paced

There are those who think poetry shouldn’t be political. Those people have no ideas what they are talking about. This is the type of poetry I want to read for the rest of my life. As Noor Hindi said “Colonizers write about flowers.” I don’t want to hear another colonizer gripe about flowers ever again.

I learned a lot from this collection of poems. The language was beautiful in a haunting way. The parallels between what is happening now and what happened then cannot be overlooked. I hope we live to see a free Palestine in our lifetime.
