JESUS F**KING CHRIST! This stuff is scary. It took less than 50 pages for my heart to sink into my stomach. The fictional scenario described in this book is not only plausible, but its consequences are absolutely apocalyptic. As Ms. Jacobsen rightly points out, there is no such thing as a limited nuclear war and no way to stop Armageddon once the missiles go up. It is the end of human civilization as we know it, plain and simple. Any sane person after reading this book should pledge to support any and all efforts to push the whole world towards nuclear disarmament and the eradication of nuclear weapons everywhere. Whether you regularly read nonfiction or not, you MUST read this book.
