The Seagull: A Vera Stanhope Mystery by Ann Cleeves

4.0

I enjoyed this one a lot! I've watched a fair bit of the TV show, so some of my expectations were based off of that and the book was definitely... different. Vera herself was quite different from the TV show, and I kind of liked the TV show version better. Also, all three of her team were different from the people who are on the TV show now (the most recent season is the one with this story in it), so I kind of just ended up imagining the three from the TV show with different names as I was reading this book.

This one is definitely a police procedural and you really have to remember EVERYTHING that the investigators do in order to keep up by the end of the story. I generally don't mind a good police procedural, but I usually like the TV adaptations better than the books. I'd still pick up another book in this series, though!
