Sleep No More by Seanan McGuire
4.0
October has been pulled into another reality. It was really intriguing to hear her story from others as they explained the "true" past to her - her own life story. The why's and wherefore's as she (again) decides how she would choose her life to be. Sometimes, easier isn't better. It's what I've always enjoyed about this series - doing what you can - even when it seems that all hope is lost.
p 19. "find people who will tell you he truths you cannot carry and unveil the lies you cannot see."
p 44. "Courage isn't knowing everything will be fine. It's knowing everything might not be, and doing what needs to be done anyway, because someone has to."
p 63. "The humans live expecting death, understanding that it already knows their names and waits to claim them when the time arrives."
p 201. "She was a sobbing stranger in a monster's private playground, and no one could have blamed me if I'd turned and run away.
No one but me, and since I'd go with myself anywhere I went, I was the person I couldn't afford to upset that badly."
