Please read content warnings! This is a very heavy book on several fronts and could be quite triggering.
That said, it's a 5-star read. This book wrecked me. It was a bit of a slower start, but it paid off in the end. I was crying for the last 25%. A harrowing, gut wrenching story with strong female lead characters you're rooting for the whole time (honestly, strong feels like too light of a word for what they are).
This is a story about war, genocide, loss, grief, surviving, sisterhood, and so much more. Not normally a historical fiction reader, but I'll definitely pick up more from this author.
