The Obelisk Gate by N.K. Jemisin

slow-paced

4.0

This was not as engaging or gripping as the first book, mainly due to the fact that the characters take a back seat and N.K. Jemisin goes all in worldbuilding wise – which at times got very technical and was not delivered in the most interesting of ways to me personally. However, if you like science and geology, this is the book of your dreams.

This being said, I can't rate this any lower than 4 stars. We don't disrespect brilliant worldbuilding in this house, and I like the sociological and anthropological study on apocalypse survival and the collapse of society that Jemisin is doing.
