Ginger and Me
by Elissa Soave
Fantastic, would've finished high up in my 2022 list had I read it last year and I'm annoyed it slipped me by, I felt Soave did a great job at characterising Wendy and really brought her character to light in a great way. The darker, obsessive stan culture and social media addiction is explored perfectly with the comic humour matching Wendy's warped obsession with a famous writer and the dialogue really shines through with the time spent on twitter, social media, it's all lingering in the background: make no mistake, this is an "of the moment" novel, but I wouldn't have it any other way - made more timely and more powerful by just how relatable its lead is.
