The Swap by Robyn Harding
3.0

This book was a sordid tale of obsession and lengths in which we will go to receive the attention we desire.

While I didn’t really connect to any of the characters, this was still a decent and entertaining book. I found it to be quite predictable and the ending was a little bit too perfect for me. I bounced between the ebook and audiobook and both were fine but I did prefer the audiobook.

Freya was such an unforgiving character! So selfish and unkind, it was difficult at times to understand her seemingly universal appeal.

Low, a grumpy teen with issues making interpersonal relationships is a difficult perspective to read from. She’s so unlikeable and the juxtaposition between her actions and her understanding of those actions, is pretty jarring.

Jamie, the most redeemable of the trio, is still racked with issues and a desperate need to be accepted by Freya despite the many, many warning signs.

Three main perspectives, three unlikeable POVs! The author did a great job creating a tense atmosphere throughout the book, causing the reader to want to yell at the characters and set them straight!

This is not my favorite novel of the year, but it was enjoyable and I can definitely see how others might truly love this book
