This review is specifically for the audiobook. The narrator definitely needs to work on how she does voices and accents for other characters in the book other than the MC—they were all extremely distracting and even sometimes comical.
Even with the distracting narrator, I still managed to finish the story and really enjoyed the plot. The world is steampunk-y with magic and fantasy, and from what I could tell based on the lore and language, is set in a world where Germanics/Vikings were the colonizers of the new world, as a lot of the religious holidays are centered around Nordic folklore.
I learned that this is only the first book in a series, and if I’m being honest, I will most likely not continue it simply because of the narrator, as audiobooks are how I primarily read these days.
