Christine by Stephen King

4.0

The story of Christine revolves around a complicated love triangle involving Arnie Cunningham, Dennis Guilder, and Leigh Cabot. Arnie and Dennis have been close friends since elementary school, but their relationship changes when Arnie develops feelings for his car, a 1958 Plymouth Fury named Christine. Things become more complicated when Leigh arrives in town and becomes interested in Arnie. Eventually, Leigh chooses Arnie over Dennis, but Christine, who has a violent history of attacking anyone threatening her connection to Arnie, tries to harm Leigh. This behavior results from the intense bond between the car and its former owner, Roland LeBay, transforming Christine into a dangerous machine.

This novel consists of three parts: Teenage Car-songs, Teenage Love-songs, and Teenage Death-songs. The first section is from Dennis's perspective. It gradually unveils how Christine came into existence with Roland LeBay and the transformation that Arnie undergoes due to owning Christine. The second section is written in the third person and depicts the eight murders of those who attempt to separate Christine from Arnie. The final section returns to Dennis's point of view and is the most action-packed of all, detailing the downfall of Christine.
