Okay so I just finished this and I'm UNWELL🫠

This book literally had me reading until 3am every night and despite my destroyed sleep schedule, I regret absolutely nothing! Like, this is what happens when you get a siren story that actually delivers on the mythology instead of just using it as window dressing ✨

The world-building? Chef's kiss I'm talking gorgeous islands and city, complex magic systems, and lore that actually makes sense! I was completely lost in Maren's world from page one.

Maren started off a little naive (girl, what are you DOING?!) but watching her transform into this fierce, rage-filled queen was everything I didn't know I needed. Pure feminine rage FMC? Yes please! 🔥 plus she's a woman of colour?!?! We NEED more of that! Especially in Mermaid stories.

And Kye... oh my god, KYE. This man put me through the emotional wringer! When he came back I knew something was off but THAT?! Did NOT see that coming! He's moody and reckless and perfect enemies-to-lovers material - I was obsessed 🖤

Fair warning: the pacing drags in some spots, but honestly the character development was so good I didn't even care.

BUT CAN WE TALK ABOUT THAT ENDING?! What the actual hell was that cliffhanger?! I'm sitting here like "that's how it ENDS?!" - this is absolutely NOT a standalone!
