Silver Tears by Camilla Läckberg
1.0
What an appallingly awful, ridiculous book, one of the worst I’ve ever read. I wish I could give it a negative 5-star review.
First of all, the protagonist is a psychopathic serial killer for whom I quickly lost any sense of compassion or sympathy. Although her abusers perpetrated horrific atrocities against her, that simply does not justify her extreme vigilantism. They abused her, but she killed them; that makes her far worse than they are in my books.
Then there’s the ridiculous implausibility of this book. Let’s start with the absurd name for her company: Revenge. Good grief! How offputting for consumers. I would never purchase anything from a company calling itself Revenge. It’s absurd and distasteful.
And then there’s the fact that, although she eats like a sumo wrestler and never once goes for a run or hits the gym, she is lithe, gorgeous and irresistible to men. And so are her girlfriend partners in crime.
Add to this that she is so enraged against the men who harmed her, yet she is somehow magnanimous towards all the women who wronged her and not only forgives them, but also she recruits them to partner up with her in order to carry out her revenge scheme. It just doesn’t add up with her ruthless character.
And that brings up another implausible aspect to this book: every single male person she has ever encountered in her life has harmed her. Sorry, I just don’t buy it that every man she’s ever met is an awful abuser.
I could go on, but I’ll stop here. I think I’ve made my point that I thought this was an awful, ridiculous book and a complete waste of my time.
