What a powerful memoir. At age 11, Susan Lieu lost her mother after a tummy tuck surgery put her in a coma. Lieu has spent her life managing the tumultuous and frustrating stages of grief through art, language, and family. This book is just one piece of that process. It's an in-depth and complex journey through grief, personal expression, relationship with family in immigrant communities, and acceptance in all directions. This is incredibly well-written and emotively performed by the author. I felt everything as she felt it.
