The Deck of Omens by C.L. Herman

3.0

The story overall was okay, I found the mystery plot interesting and it is what kept me reading. The atmosphere also really good but I think the first one was better in that aspect. The writing was good and I found I enjoyed the style. It is set in a small town which I liked and the powers were good. I also didn’t get pulled into this story as much as I did the first book. Again the book has multiple POVs which jump and it can make it hard to follow until you get used to it.

The Characters were okay but I really couldn’t connect to them. There is still diversity in the book with bisexual characters and other LGBTQ characters which I loved. I just didn’t connect to them and I didn’t enjoy the relationships in the book at times and the characters sometimes annoyed me.

It’s hard to say what else I thought as it was just one of those books that was okay. It is probably a me thing as I know a lot of people will really enjoy this book. I just think I’m not as interested in YA Fantasy anymore.
